About Formula Art

David Johnson artist of Formula art, hand painted formula 1 artwork

Formed in 2008, Formula Art features the work of Motor Sport Artist David Johnson. Providing you with the latest developments from additions to the gallery, to exhibitions and signed driver prints.

The artist: David Johnson

David Johnson was born and raised in Oxford. From a young age he has always had a fascination of Formula One. Initially watching it on television, this progressed to actually attending his first Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1997. This interest evolved into a true passion.

During his career of teaching Design and Technology at St Gregory the Great School in Oxford, he has always aimed to get closer to the sport by running extracurricular activities. This manifested as, building remote controlled cars to race at Silverstone, organising trips to the Formula One Factories and even inviting drivers to the school to meet the students.

?I have applied more time and attention to creating an art piece. I have evolved my detail in the paintings and used this technique to draw peoples focus into the scene and allow them to be a part of it. I look to capture the speed, excitement, atmosphere and drama of some of Formula One?s greatest drivers.? ? David Johnson
