BMW CSL 3.0 E9 - Brian Redman (GB) / Allan Moffat (AUS) / Hans-Joachim Stuck (D) / Sam Posey (USA)

The 1975 12 Hours of Sebring is the 23rd edition of the event and the 2nd round of the 1975 IMSA GT championship. It was won on March 21, 1975 by the BMW 3.0 CSL no 25 driven by Brian Redman, Allan Moffat, Hans-Joachim Stuck and Sam Posey. This is the first time that a crew of four drivers has won the race.

The 1975 12 Hours of Sebring took place at Sebring International Raceway in Florida. It is made up of two long straights, separated by quick curves and a few chicanes. The current layout differs from that of the time. This track has a great historical past because it has been used for motor racing since 1950. This circuit is famous because it hosted Formula 1.

In 1971, BMW replaced the 2800 CS with the 3.0 CS powered by a 3 L (3,000 cc) 180 hp carbureted engine, and the 3.0 CSL with 215 hp. It is equipped with power steering and 4 disc brakes which were sorely lacking in the previous version. A few months later, the BMW 3.0 CSi reinforces the range with electronic injection (which also equips the CSL) and 200 hp.
The pinnacle of the CS E9 coupé version is reached with the light-weight CSL developed under the direction of Alpina4, 200 kg lighter thanks to aluminum doors and bonnet, and reduced interior equipment. The competition version is equipped with a 3500 cc 360 hp engine, and wins many victories.
